Evan looks surprised at the sight of Meallan trying for the cutout, and then is subject to a rush of embarrassment. He'd forgotten it was in there, the dratted thing. Mentally, he adds that to the growing piles of things that he's going to have to explain. The pile is getting daunting.
Shaking his head, he raises his phone, pulling up the camera app. "Nothing in particular," he reassures Mel... and then frowns at the screen, steps closer and to the left a bit, frames the thing, and taps his camera. The little shutter noise triggers and he looks critically at the result for a moment before pulling up messaging and sending it off to Kay. When that's done he tucks the device back into his pocket and sits again, looking a little wide-eyed across at his friend.
"That'll help," he tells Mel, "thanks."
Then he looks down, grins briefly. "It's hard to believe you're... here." He looks back up, his grin growing stronger. "How have you been? How is -- how is everyone, I guess? A lot's got to have changed since I left!"
